The Dowerin Telecentre, opened in 1998, is the service provider for our small but dynamic community. Our main objective is to supply services to our community that would be otherwise difficult to access. These include the services of Centrelink, Medicare, State Library, Westpac Banking. We are the access point for computer use, broadband internet and training (TAFE and non-accredited). We supply some services that are fee for service; these include Photocopying, printing, desktop design, basic IT support, equipment hire etc. Other services offered free to the community include Youth information, Job search, Community advertising etc. We also coordinate and publish our weekly local paper the Dowerin Despatch. Previously the Telecentre only has a small amount of Information as a Tourist Information point, however recently we have been able to access an entire room within the Telecentre to create a Visitor Centre. This room showcases local information, displays and merchandise and regional information.
The Dowerin Telecentre is centrally located in the town site and offers easy access and parking. We have public amenities with toilet facilities for the disabled. The Telecentre offers networked computers with up to date software, all of which have broadband internet access. The Telecentre is equipped with user friendly workstations, networked printers (including A4/A3 colour laser), photocopier, laminator, binder, scanners, overhead projector and multimedia projector. The Telecentre has a large meeting room that has installed in it satellite television, video recorder and Videoconferencing. Also available are whiteboard, fax and phone facilities. There are also kitchen facilities.
The Telecentre is a very friendly environment with helpful, professional staff members. |
